Women need Women. Welcome to Your Tribe
· Our Daily Life
In a matter of days, our country and the people that reside inside of it, are scared. For most, you have stocked what you can from the grocery store, read every article, and you continue to brace yourself for the stories on the news. In your gut, you know things are going to get worse before they get better, but what do you do with that unsettling feeling?
Today is the day to bring your family in close, stay as far away from everyone else as possible, and listen to the warnings of the professionals who know more than we do. I sat today, thankful, thinking about all the parents who have to worry about their jobs, the care of their children, and what they are going to do. Some of us are more fortunate and that blessing is not lost on me.
I made the mistake of scrolling today on FB, and time after time I saw people gathering socially, going out to eat, and looking down upon the people who are taking things a little more seriously. Guys, this is called a pandemic for a reason! There are reasons you must leave your house and I understand that (grocery, medication, emergency), but you are not only putting your own family in danger’s way, but someone’s mother who is currently going through chemo, a very sick child who needs to be seen at the hospital, or your own grandfather with not so great lungs.
Social distancing is not only for your own good, but more importantly, for the health of the week. Think about it for a second, you must know one person who doesn’t have that great of an immune system. Now, imagine you went out to dinner, visited that person afterwards to bring him some soup, all while having no idea you are already come in contact with this virus.
If you’re one of the lucky ones who doesn’t have to worry about who is going to care for your kids, then look at this time as a glorified family staycation. Read, build legos, watch so many movies, write to the sick/elderly, teach your kids to cook, get your kids outside (around your own house), go on walks, learn a new craft, home-economics 101, or try and finally teach them to tie their own shoes.
If you must go out, go by yourself, use all the precautionary measures (no large crowds, hand washing, using the wipes to drown your cart with antibacterial safety). Use common sense. Limit the amount of trips you take and then stay the heck home.
We are not driven by fear, but respect for others. Stay safe my friends.
