I love good debt payoff months. So far to go, but dang we paid off a good amount this month. All thanks to our tax return. Quite frankly, Ramsey states that “It’s no secret that Dave doesn’t like tax refunds. Anyone who asks him how to use a refund usually gets a bonus lesson on how and why to avoid one in the future.
What Does Dave Have Against Tax Refunds?
So, why don’t you want a refund? Isn’t getting a chunk of money at tax time as good as getting smaller amounts throughout the year? No way!
The IRS estimates that the average tax refund was $2,900 in 2011—that’s a little more than $240 per month you could have brought home in your paycheck.” Source here: DaveRamsey.com
He has a point right? But, this year we did and we’re going to try to adjust it going forth this year.
I’m going to pause our debt snowball for just a few…
There are a few things that we need to cash flow coming up.
1) I need a new camera. Yes, this is a need and not a want. I rely heavily on my gear for my business and it’s coming time again to replace.
2) My daughter got into a school abroad in Sweden and I want to make sure we have cash flowed what not only our fees are, but that she is covered while she is gone. She will be going for 6 months.
3) I WILL go visit her once during that 6 month move. Need to budget how much that is going to be.
That’s it. So I don’t expect it taking too long. You know what’s funny, with us making a solid foundation choice to never borrow again…it’s become second nature to realize when a pause and cash flow plan is in order. I know some will argue about stopping our debt free journey for just a smidge and what do I say to those people? You do you and I’ll do me 🙂
My mother and I are starting a 30 day whole plant based challenge starting on Monday and I’ve got some meal prepping to do this Sunday. It’s a way to give your poor body a break from all the not so good foods. I have a feeling around that 2nd week mark, the arthritic discomfort for my mom will subside. This will be a fun challenge for both of us. I’m hoping to get out of a brain fog I’ve felt for awhile.
It was an epic experience.
Some fun things this month:
This handsome dimpled boy turned 8 this month. Gahhhh I love him.
This sweetie pie asked me to be her date for her school dance.
It was a great month friends. Bring on March!
