We’ve been using Young Living essential oils in our home since 2013. I actually had to look that date up because it’s been such a long time. I started to dive deeper into more holistic ways of treating sickness in our home when a friend of mine was going to a small gathering to learn all about this “witch craft” as my husband calls it. No, he’s not being serious, he does it to make me laugh, I was hooked. He will be one of the first people to tell you that these little oils not only work, but get the job done. Here are my top 10 essential oils we use in our home.
But for this blog post, I want to give more information on essential oils and how we utilize them.

I’m sure there are so many people who will tell you that they use a ‘less expensive brand’ or ‘we just get ours off Amazon.’ And although I understand completely about making sure we use our money wisely, I am a big advocate of using pure grade oils. Young Living will always be the only essential oils I use in our home. Why?

Why does that matter? Because not all oils are created equal.
So, what do we use on a consistent basis in our house? The majority of the oils we use in our home are ones that are versatile. I can use them to clean the air, but they also have other uses to get more bang for my buck. You can click on any pic to take you directly to the product.
Thieves is a combo of clove, lemon, cinnamon bark, eucalyptus radiata, and rosemary essential oils. We use this oil as an immune booster. During the really hard times of winter, my kids will roll the blender on their feet before bed and I use it to defuse in our home to combat and ailments and smells. *please note this oil needs to be diluted-4 drops of a carrier oil to 1 drop of Thieves. That’s why I love the roller blends better for use with my kids.
Thieves Household Cleaner. Literally about the only cleaner I use. The smell is just amazing and I feel so much better in knowing that the ingredients are clean for my family. You can use one cap full to 4 cups water so I use a glass empty spray bottle to mix. It lasts forever and my mom is totally hooked.
Cedarwood is used every single night in the Pendleton household. It’s cheap, smells woodsy, and does the trick in helping little people get calmed down for bedtime. I use about 4 drops in my diffuser and mix it with Lavender.
Ohhhh my love affair with Lavender. This tiny little oil is just magical. You can use this for everything! It’s a top essential oil for sleep, but we also use it for cuts, scraps, and sunburns.
Peace & Calming is another fav here. The smell is unlike any candles you have ever lit. Ylang Ylang, orange, tangerine, patchouli, and blue tansy and is one of Young Living’s most popular essential oil blends is what is in this combo. I’m telling you, diffuse a few drops of this or just open that bad boy up and breathe it in.
Think of RC like your respiratory savior lol. I dilute it and put it directly onto my children’s chest and in the air when they are having a cold where the cough just won’t stop.
I know KidScents MightyPro isn’t technically an essential oil, but I can’t do a blog post about Young Living without mentioning this product. Both my little people take one every single day. We all know how important our gut health is, but with kids who don’t have a love fermented foods, this is a simple way to make sure they are getting the pre and probiotics they need.
I roll Tranquil on the back of my neck and wrists before bedtime. It has the most calming smell and is made up of lavender, cedarwood, and roman chamomile which you can see why it is beneficial for sleep. Those are my top 3 sleep oil aids.
I remember at one time, Roman Chamomile was out of stock for forever and I kept trying to figure out why so many people wanted it. Well let me tell you…it’s my top sleep aid. Do you ever wonder why they tell you to drink chamomile tea before bed? Because it has the most calming affect. LOVE this oil.
You either love Patchouli or you don’t. I just happen to adore the smell and always have 2 bottles here. It’s bar far my favorite scent on the planet. Hippy much? lol. It’s great before meditation or yoga.
I think the fear people have with essential oils is the lack of knowledge. Yes, you need to use the oils appropriately and diluted, but what if you could change your family’s health with them? What if you could decrease your son’s asthma attacks, your husband’s allergies, or your daughter’s sleep habits? All with using natural ingredients instead of heading straight for a medication? It can be done. Knowledge is power. There are so many amazing books out there and I think if we did more research as parents, we would realize that health is really in our own hands.
