Readers are leaders | Top Favorite Books
If you know me then you know I’m a huge book hoarder. I love books. I can spend hours inside of Barnes & Noble just touching all the books. I also have collected books for my children since my first was born 19 years ago. Many times I have condensed, re-arranged, and purged our collection, but there are some I can never get ride of. Why? Because they are my favorites. These books have been tried and true favorites for all my kids as well as me. Keep in mind that these books are geared more towards elementary aged. Why? Because I’ve noticed once they hit the age group of choosing what they want to read, I go with the flow and they are less likely to want picture books.

Now lets get this list going…
If you didn’t know, Jamie Lee Curtis is not only an actor, but her books for kids are AMAZING. I’ve been collecting them for years. I’m gonna like me is one of my favs. In this book It’s about liking yourself with all your quirks. Great book for building self esteem in kids.
When I was Little is all about talking to her younger sibling about all the things she used to do as a baby and how amazing it is to grow up.
This one makes me cry every time I read it. In the best possible way. Tell me again about the night I was born is a story about how this little girl was adopted. It’s so charming and tells the story so well.
I seriously love and adore all of her books.
The Julia Pothman collection is one that your kids will go back to and back to time and time again. This series is a set of 3 and includes Nature, Farm, & Food Anatomy. It goes over every single detail of each category and even taught me too many things to admit.
Oh I love this bear series. I can’t even keep up with how many books there are now, but we probably have at least 6 of them. The illustrations are on point, the stories keep both little people here engaged, and they have memorized these books that it makes me giggle. Bear Snores On is one of my favs. It’s a story about a bear that is hibernating and his friends have a party inside his cave. Charming.
Oh the Splat book series. He’s a funny little cat. My mom actually introduced this author to me. If I remember correctly, she got one of their books for a holiday gift for my kids and we’ve been collecting them ever since.
These books will be ones I will not only never purge, but will be saved to be passed down to future generations in our family. I truly do believe one of the best gifts you can give your children is the love of reading. Make it fun. Make it a ritual. Make it a memory for them.
