Our Farewell Letter
To the new owners,
I wanted to take a moment to give you some insights on the home you just purchased. I bought this house in 2005. I was very pregnant with my 2nd baby and the excitement of purchasing our first home fueled not only a sense of pride, but a joy only first home buyers will understand. It was ours and ours alone. I had dreams in my heart and I knew we had made it to our soft place to land. Not long after we signed that dotted line, I became a single parent of 2 children, I was getting ready to start nursing school, and I was terrified.
Not long after starting nursing school, I met a man who would become my husband. He was kind, loving, and held my hand as my nerves took hold at all that was on my shoulders. I didn’t know it then, but he became my soft landing. We were married in 2008 while I held the hand of my two children walking down that aisle.
This home became the place where over 14 years of memories would occur. We brought 2 more babies home, we’ve cried happy and sorrowful tears here, we’ve cooked, laughed, had life changing hardships, made dramatic family decisions, baked cookies, played endless amounts of board games, and spent countless hours watching movies as a family.
We met our amazing lifelong friends in that neighborhood you’re a part of now. We’ve had many many family dinners with them in the very place those new floors were just placed, shed tears of devastating news, and opened our doors more times than I can count.
This home built our family and I thanked it the day before you signed those papers. I slid my hand down the growth chart that lies in the kitchen, and gave my farewells. Take care of her, she is a home of love.
